We regularly publish short news items about activities in the park and we can send these to you directly whenever a new one is published. There are 2 ways we can do this.
The easiest and most common way is via email. All you have to do is click the envelope button in the header of the web site and tell us your email address. You will then be sent an email asking you to confirm your subscription which you do by clicking in a link in that email. That's it ! From then on, you will receive our updates and you can unsubscribe at any time by following the link in any of our News updates.
The other method is using an RSS Reader. If you already follow some blogs using Google Reader or another news aggregator, you can add updates from Braidburn Valley Park to your list of subscriptions. Just press the RSS button in the header and select your RSS reader and that's it. You can unsubscribe at any time using your RSS Reader.
Of course, all this is completely FREE of charge.
This year’s ‘Spring Clean’ will take place on Sunday 25th April 2010 from
2-4pm. As usual there will be the opportunity to get into the burn to clear rubbish but we will also try to cover the whole Park if we have enough people.
Waders, litter pickers and refreshments will be provided.
This year for the first time we will be sorting the rubbish for re-cycling where possible.

The Braidburn Valley Park Annual Spring Clean took place on Sunday 25th April. 64 people joined in – 31 children and 33 adults. The Friends had been given a grant from the Edinburgh Council Waste Action grant scheme to buy our own litter pickers, handihoops, spikes, gloves and hi-vis vests. They were immediately put to good use as the volunteers collected 131kg of mixed waste, not counting several items that were too large to weigh from the burn at the Oxgangs end of the park. We also collected 9kg of cans, glass and plastic bottles which were separated with the help of Anita Duffy and Justine Stansfield – Recycling Officers from Edinburgh Council. This recyclable material was taken by the Friends of Braidburn Valley Park to Council recycling points.
Thanks to all the volunteers who made such a difference, Edinburgh Council Waste Action Grant Scheme for the equipment grant and to CSV Action Earth for the grant to enable the purchase of cutting equipment which was used in the park clean up by Duke of Edinburgh service volunteers to remove the invasive Japanese Butterbur from the banks of the Braid Burn

It’s great to see this happening… Braidburn Park is such a jewel. I’d loved to have been there to participate, but will be there July/August, at which time my daughter and I ‘do our clean-up bit’ every time we walk through. We look forward to a ‘clean’ and wonderful park upon our arrival. Thank you for making it that way.
