For the third year running Braidburn Valley Park has been awarded a Green Flag by the Keep Britain Tidy organisation. We are one of only ten parks in Scotland to be given the award this year.
The Green Flag Award is the national standard for parks and green spaces. The award scheme is a means of recognising and rewarding the best green spaces in the country and creating a benchmark of excellence in recreational green areas.
The partnership between the City of Edinburgh Council and the Friends of Braidburn Valley Park was key to winning the award.

Today (26th August) my dog returned to me stinking of raw sewage having rolled on the side of the burn, jumped into the water and after drinking from the burn. It has taken 2 baths and many wipe downs to reduce but not eliminate the smell. It does worry me that my dog, or indeed myself, may become ill from this.

I have had a look at the burn today and I can neither see or smell any evidence of the pollution you encountered earlier in the week so I assume it is an isolated incident and it is no longer an issue.
If you spot something similar again please contact the City of Edinburgh Environmental wardens via the Neighbourhood Office South on 0131 529 5151 or e-mail southteam@edinburgh.gov.uk.
If the problem is actually in the burn, i.e. you suspect that there is sewage in the water then please contact SEPA on 0800 80 70 60 who deal with water pollution incidents.
